Drug driving laws are too harsh and need to change, according to a legal expert.

The Australian Capital Territory assembly is debating a bill to legalise cannabis for personal use.

The bill, supported by the Labor-Green government, would allow people to grow two plants and hold up to 50 grams of the drug – but not sell it.

A parliamentary inquiry has heard that if the bill passes drug driving laws should be changed.
